There’s a message in my alphabet soup! It says "ooooooooooooo."
If you ever wondered how the foreign press covers their own national soccer teams, look no further than today’s in-game headline above from Marca, the largest sports daily in Spain (it’s also the largest newspaper in Spain, which tells you a bit about where the Spanish place their priorities). Of course, this is the same paper that’s currently being advertised with the slogan “Todo con el rojo,” or “All with the red.” So they’re not exactly trying to keep their biases hidden.
On Ramp
As this blog gets going, I’d like to pass along a tip of the hat to an organization that’s doing a whole bunch of mitzvahs all around the D.C. area. They’re called Yachad, and I was in Gaithersburg, Md., last week to see one of their volunteer teams finish off a ramp that they’d built for a family with a young, physically disabled girl. The team — of both parents and kids — built the entire ramp in a week. The full Flickr set of their handiwork is available here.
